Always Young 01:10
Today, in the drive for Democracy, the students are the sharp troops. Twenty years ago their parents believed that the Communist party could reform itself, and they were bullied into submission. Today the young want an end to Communist rule all together. At every demonstration, the majority is always young. [...] This is partly possible because brave men and women have formed opposition parties, and this is possible because Hungarian leaders are going to show the ultimate political courage: the courage to submit to the choice of the people in free elections. […] Freedom… We’re free. […] At every demonstration, the majority is always young.

Like a hurricane, nothing stops me on my way: all the chains I had to break held me back. I have driven all the bad spirits away from me, now I feel safe in my own skin. Like a lion, I’ve got nothing to fear, but this crack in the mirror is a reminder how vulnerable I am. Weakness breeds inside me, waiting for the moment it can come to the surface. I’ve learnt my lessons from my own mistakes. I hope I can forgive myself for being someone I don’t want to be: disappointed. My role in this world is a lie, so I’m breaking all the rules. Why can’t I be stronger? The chains are still rattling on my wrists. How long do I have to live like this? The bad spirits have never left my side, just strengthened while my weaknesses rise. I’m no lion, lost my courage down this crooked path. How many times do I have to fail, to realize I’m on the wrong path? How many times do I have to see? There’s a way out from this rusty cage. There’s no victory for those who never lost a battle. Sometimes we have to fail to appreciate all that we’ve gained.
3.
Bury us with prayers as we’ve failed ourselves. The greatest loss was always known as the defeat underneath the fears and lies we had to face, and the struggles we ignored, the struggles we escaped. There’s no place for grief - we are all guilty for being misled towards the weak. I wish we could raise our flag, to call these streets a home. A place to stay wise, sane, proud, and prepare for what the future holds. There’s no time and space for complaints: we are all guilty for being misled, for being weak. Ignoring the lessons our grandfathers taught us back then. Stories for the greater good, our morals left us silent. The harm, the void and past misfortunes stayed, while our loved ones left – they have never looked back. There’s no reason to look away (from here), when some got called and some got saved.
4.
To leave your mistakes behind, think about those hollow years you carry on your back. “Grace under pressure.” Is your inner bloom for a new beginning worth giving up everything? Sowed seeds can’t sprout from the soil of bleakness - each day gives a new chance to learn from what you witness. Seek your fountain to leave the past behind. No one can live your dreams but you, so take your pride and reap what you sow.
5.
Do you still smell the smoke of gunpowder? I know it’s still in the air after all these years. Lost souls walking on the streets, chasing their ashes that have been blown away by the wind. They can’t rest until the black death leaves the air. They can’t find their rest; they can’t find their final rest. The age of heroes passed away. Maybe it has never existed. Was it just created to have something to believe in? Let’s look into ourselves and ask: are we ready to take back the control in our lives? For our freedom, for ourselves. It’s on the doors written with blood and tears, it’s in us, it is our legacy. Breathe in, breathe out – it can’t leave the air, it’s still in the air.
6.
Don’t get buried by your blunders - leaving comfort forces to change you. Life spikes where it hurts the most, but no pain can break you. To stay bold is the biggest value; you’re not here to lose this fight. There’s always a chance to take, Iet it make you climb the mountains. It takes you over the seas, before you get lost and fade away. We are all here to create, there’s no time to hesitate, you are here to leave your mark. Face the consequences; tear down the walls in your way. Those wings will carry you away, where sorrow is a memory.

Dreamcatcher 01:48
Dreamcatcher, tell me now: how could I see, act or care, when this cruel world fits for a nightmare? Why were we raised in fear? Why should we accept this fate? In a place where life’s marked as worthless. We fly in circles like vultures who feast on carrion. Is this really what we want? Without roles we turned to outlaws and we can’t worship the Sun. A flower unfolds through a skull, and gets washed by acid rain. The time has come to rise on the ruins of our rights. Why do we act like Gods? There’s no reason to prevail on others’ lives. Our dream has turned into turmoil – ignorance is bliss and the feathers start to burn. Dreamcatcher, tell me now: how this cruel world works? Dreamcatcher, tell me now: how could I see, act or care? Dreamcatcher, tell me now: how do I fit into this nightmare?
8.
I try to speak out, but the rope hangs on my neck; I hear the sounds of sharpening' axes and the torches have been lit to set the fire. Get crucified for stepping out of line. Hang me on gallows, burn me with fire, decapitate me with an axe, but I won't turn away, I won’t shut my trap. They spit and curse your name for speaking the truth. Killing people in the name of Kings & Gods, being stoned and burnt for defying the tyrant, the gold turns to serpents in his hands. I won't stand in line, I won’t shut my trap. Tell me, what has been shattered by the centuries? What age are we living in? Be loyal to the king, but was this king ever loyal to his people? Was he? Is he the king we need? The king we want?
9.
Am I the only one, who thinks and feels this world needs to start again? Attracted to the void, isolation is a way to get rid of it. Am I twisted? I can’t stand this spinning mess around me. Meeting these expectations makes me weak and tired every day. The pressure is getting bigger on my shoulders, my persistence will fly away. No matter how heavy is the burden, the eternal load will never take me down. ...at the end of my days, I’m counting back for this world, to let it start spinning again. „To be awake is to be alive.” The whole world can collapse above my head, but I’ll always find the reason to go ahead. No matter how heavy is the burden, this eternal load will never take me down.

about

'Some Got Saved' is a memoir for the generation born and raised after the fall of the Berlin wall, the era after the Iron Curtain.

In our new album we went back to the topic of the regime change in 1990, one of the main events of the 20th century that shaped the attitude of the generation who grew up in the post-soviet era: the disappointed ones, the seekers and the fugitives who were forced to leave Hungary and their hometowns, their beloved ones.

'Some Got Saved' will be released through Pongo Pongo Collective.
